FAQs

What exactly is "Ayni," and how does it influence the retreat?

Ayni is the Andean principle of “sacred reciprocity.” It is the belief that to receive, one must give, and that all life exists in a delicate balance. We follow this philosophy into every aspect of the retreat—from how we interact with local communities and the land to how you approach your own healing and transformation.

Is this retreat suitable for beginners?

Yes. Whether you are new to plant medicine or a seasoned traveler, our 1:2 facilitator-to-participant ratio ensures you receive personalized, intimate guidance. Our extensive pre-retreat preparation (including a Cannabis & Breathwork journey) is specifically designed to help beginners feel grounded and safe before the retreat.

What medicines will be served?

The journey includes two Ayahuasca ceremonies and two Huachuma ceremonies. We also incorporate traditional Hapé and Sananga, a Temazcal (sweat lodge), and a Cannabis & Breathwork integration session during and after the retreat. We work with experienced medicine carriers who hold space with deep cultural integrity.

How do I get to the retreat center?

The retreat is held in the Sacred Valley, 45 minutes from Pisac. Participants fly into Cusco (CUZ). We organize transport to pick you up directly from the airport. We will provide detailed arrival instructions and pickup coordinates during our pre-retreat calls to ensure a smooth, stress-free transition.

Tell me more about the Machu Picchu extension.

This is an optional 1-night, 2-day spiritual tour (November 14–15). It includes transportation, guided tours of the sacred city, and a structured closing to the journey. It requires an additional $800 total investment, with a $200 deposit to secure permits and train tickets, and the remaining $600 balance due with your final payment.

How do you handle safety?

Safety is our highest priority. All participants undergo a screening process to ensure there are no contraindications with medications or health conditions. Our high facilitator-to-guest ratio means someone is always available to support you during and after ceremonies throughout your entire stay.

What is the "Cannabis & Breathwork" component?

We use Conscious Cannabis and specific breathwork techniques as a “bridge.” In preparation, it helps open the somatic body and clear emotional blockages. In integration, it provides a familiar space to process the profound insights gained from Ayahuasca and Huachuma, helping you ground those lessons into your daily life.

How does this retreat support the local Peruvian community?

Your journey is rooted in Ayni (reciprocity). By staying at Munay Sonqo, a portion of your stay directly funds Sach’a Munay, a nonprofit dedicated to local schools, organic farming, and health programs in the Sacred Valley. We prioritize “Cultural Integrity,” ensuring our presence is a respectful contribution to the land and its people. As part of our collective offering, we will also personally deliver school supplies to children in a nearby mountain community.
